Ringers will thoroughly enjoy playing this delightful, original work written in a minor key yet sounding decisively happy – as is the case with many traditional Klezmer tunes. It has an engaging main melody that many will hum or whistle long after the tune is finished. It opens with singing bell supporting an Adagio intro leading to the main theme melody in the treble with malleted bass. The next section briefly revisits the tune from the opening measures before returning to the main melody. A few marted and TD notes are perfectly placed for added interest. There is a very nice rubato section with cresc./dim. patterns which then segues back to the primary melody and style, ending with a jubilant “L’Chaim!” or “To Life!” This is sure to be a ‘must-have’ addition to your group’s repertoire!
