William (Billy) Brandt is a music educator who currently serves as Director of Choirs at Freedom High School. In addition, he is the Director of Choirs for the United Church of Christ in New London, Wisconsin, directing both the handbell and vocal ensembles. Lastly, Brandt is an Instructor of Music Literacy for the Badger State Girl Choir.
Outside of his teaching career, Brandt is also an avid writer within the field of music education. Many of his articles have been published by notable organizations including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) and his first book entitled Let’s Talk: Music with Barnes and Nobles in 2021. His second book A Guide To: Choral Warmups was released in 2024. As a conductor, Brandt has premiered works with several groups and made his international conducting debut in 2023 at the prestigious Festival of Three which took place in Finland, Latvia, and Estonia. Finally, his compositions are in publication with notable publishers such as From the Top Publishing, MorningStar Publishing, Paraboloid Press, and Meadowlark Melodies.
Brandt obtained his Master’s of Music in Music Education from Boston University and Bachelor’s of Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, with a certification in PK-12 Choral/General. He holds membership status with several organizations including the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), the Wisconsin Music Educators Association (WMEA), the Handbell Musicians of America (HMA), and the National Association for Music Educators (NAfME).
