Krug, Jason

Jason W. Krug (b. 1978) is a native of Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000 with a degree in Music. He is currently the Director of Music Ministries at Irvington United Methodist Church, has several private piano students, and has extensively accompanied school choirs, musicals, and private music students.

His handbell career began in 2001 when he began ringing with and arranging music for the Wagner Memorial Bell Choir at Irvington United Methodist, and in 2005, he took over as the choir’s director. Since his first publication in 2006, he’s had over 70 compositions and arrangements accepted at Beckenhorst Press, the Lorenz Corporation, SoundForth, Jeffers Publishing, Hope Publishing, Alfred Publishing, GIA Music, From the Top Music, AGEHR, and AGEHR’s Overtones magazine. His pieces have been featured at the Capital Area Handbell Festival and the Capital Area Young Ringers Festival in North Carolina, the New Jersey Youth Handbell Festival, the South Georgia Holiday Ring, AGEHR’s Distinctly Bronze East and Distinctly Bronze West, the Florida Holiday Ring, the Georgia Spring Ring, the Kokomo (IN) Handbell Festival, and the Knox Area Handbell Festival, among others. Outside the world of handbells, he has several piano pieces published through Lorenz, and string orchestra and solo violin arrangements published through Latham Music and Grand Mesa Music.

In his spare time, Jason enjoys writing fiction, and has spent several years working on a young adult fantasy series, The Sadonian Chronicles. He has also participated in the National Novel Writing Month event for the past several years.

Jason continues to live in Indianapolis with his wife Ellen, his son Daniel, and his feline creative consultants Marcus and Susan.
