Johnson, Richard
“Richard Johnson has been in some sort of music most all his life. It started with cherub choir in church, then piano lessons, then band, then high school choir and the madrigal singers, and then full circle back to church choir again. Handbells is a relatively new occurrence.
He started playing handbells in 1987 and started arranging and composing in about 1989. At first it was just for his church group but in 1909 he sent out his first song to a publisher. After a few rejections he signed his first contract in April of 2010.
Richard lives in the outskirts of Grand Rapids, Michigan and still attends the same church he has been going to for nearly forty years, North Park Presbyterian. He sings in their choir; plays in their handbell choir, The Celebration Ringers; and is a member of the church music committee.”
