Handchimes used: n/a
Optional: Drum set and wood blocks
Level: 3+
This delightful polka by Eduard Strauss (grandson of Johann Strauss I) follows the family tradition of creating Viennese ‘light music’ which included dance music, popular throughout Europe. This tune represents the popularity of railroads used for pleasure and day trips as well as practical transportation. Bahn Frei! was the ‘all clear’ sign indicating the train could begin its trek. Martha Lynn has used Ring and the director’s preference of stopped techniques to nicely represent the energy and excitement of the train ride. The addition of drum set and wood blocks adds to the energy and style. This is sure to be a fun title for both ringers and audience!
