Here is a lovely marrying of VENI EMMANUEL and CWM RHONDDA which begins with ethereal singing bell and mallet rolls which continue to support the Veni melody soon introduced in the 4’s on handchimes, followed by CWM RHONDDA melody malleted on suspended bells in the 6s. Further development includes flowing LV lines supporting the melody leading to an elegant handchime section. Meter of 4/4 and 3/4 add another level of interest as further interplay between the two hymn tunes, dynamics, and expression leads to a powerful and unique ending. This setting is so nicely crafted – it is bound to become a ‘staple’ in your group’s Advent repertoire.
