Fred has combined Johann Crüger’s “Nun danket alle Gott” and J.S. Bach’s “Sinfonia” from Cantata 29 into a stellar musical interplay in the ultimate Classical style. It is Rung throughout with many well-placed LV phrases, two Shakes, and no ‘stopped’ techniques. The Sinfonia is made up of extended passages of 16th notes while “Nun danket…” melody in quarter and half notes shines through. The contrapuntal interplay between the two unique titles is beautifully scored and groups will enjoy emphasizing the various distinctive lines as they weave in and out. The absence of articulations and a minimal number of accidentals belies the flawless technique and sheer musicianship this piece requires to be rung with clarity at tempo. Fred’s musical gifts are truly on display in this complex and fabulously gorgeous setting.
