The Nutcracker is a traditional holiday favorite around the world – with good reason! All of its delightful scenes are lyrical and filled with energy, plus the fact that Tchaikovsky incorporated the celesta, makes it a natural for handbells! To convey the immense energy in Trepak, (Ukrainian/Russian folk dance) Robert had brilliantly used stopped techniques (mallet, TD, mart, RT) so effectively that one can almost see the dancers and hear the sound of their footsteps on the stage. Excellent placement of dynamics adds to the excitement. Robert has included performance notes and suggested quartet assignments in this amazing, challenging, quartet transcription which will definitely be worth the effort!
