When asked to name some favorite holiday and Christmas tunes, many will come to mind and it may be difficult to pick just one favorite! Well … Randy has combined many favorite carols in a masterful arrangement that shows his innate musicality, technical knowledge, and skill. Creatively interwoven melodies and changing rhythmic patterns and styles make this especially appealing.
“Here We Come A-Caroling” and “Masters In This Hall” are featured in the optional processional, accompanied by hand drum. This is flexible and suggestions to adapt it to your needs are included. Then segue to the featured setting which begins with “great energy” in malleted bass moving between 6/8 and 3/4 time with the occasional 2/4, 4/4, and 7/8 adding to the interest. It also includes a few well-placed sus mallet and martellato notes. Treble bells are mostly Rung and carry the majority of the interwoven melodies. A bit of “rock’n’roll” style is even included! There are snippets of at least 6 carols so it is perfect for audience-participation in “name that tune!” What a great piece to include in your concerts!
